Artist Process

I begin my process by painting a large piece of silk.  I combine painting techniques to achieve ranges of tones, texture and pattern.  I work intuitively with color, never documenting my recipes and allowing what is natural to my eye, determine the finished color palette.

Once my silk fabric is finished, I discover smaller, more intimate areas that become the eye of the jewel. I hand-cut these areas to fit the sterling settings I design. I layer the fabric with resin preserving the fabric inside it's setting.

To finish my pieces, I hand-sew cords from the same hand painted fabric, which gives my customers and opportunity to feel the same silk that is inside their jewel.
