Little Pieces of Beautiful

I was introduced to painting silk as a textile student at Savannah College of Art and Design. I was immediately drawn to the way dyes penetrate and respond to silk. The idea to combine silk and silver, in a context that is not traditionally seen, evolved after I began studying metal smithing in 2001. So began, "little pieces of beautiful". I create jewelry that is intriguing, distinctive, and original. To achieve this I work intuitively with color, painting large pieces of silk. I select small intimate pieces with interesting pattern, texture, and tonality, allowing what is natural to my eye to determine the finished piece." Little pieces of beautiful" is what I often refer to my work as, and I hope you too, view them as such.
